Our Mission

Our goal is to welcome children in the midst of their learning, growing & feeling. We love those big feelings & messy moments . In quiet connections made through play and interactive sessions in the office, children & families can shift their patterns of reaction to response. In growing a child's emotional intelligence and teaching a family about co-regulation - it is our privilege to support the growth of strong and healthy families. As we connect with parents and explore family patterns & belief structures - it is our responsibility to support growth, learning and wellness in caregivers. When parents or children feel they are at their worst, it is our work to teach, to extend support, to build rapport and create connection within the family.

Meet Our Team

Jennifer Walker MSW RSW

As a Child & Family Therapist, my goal is to extend authentic & empathic support to children and their families. It is my heart’s work to connect with children in their toughest moments & biggest feelings. My non-directive & child centered, curious approach builds connections, grows wellness and supports family growth, often through play.

My play based approach, and focus on emotional intelligence, allows children to explore the full range of their feelings in a safe and supportive setting.

I am especially interested and skilled in supporting children and their families as they navigate the challenges associated with divorce & separation, loss & blended families. Another part of my practice focuses on supporting co-parenting dynamics, sibling connections and parent-child communication.

It is truly my dream job to support children & their families as they explore & experience their life transitions, developmental milestones, their environments, their relationships & ALL the emotions that come along for the ride.

Jack Simpson MSW RSW

I'm a very down-to-earth, easy-going guy from the East coast.  During my time off you can find me hiking through lush forests, capturing the beauty of nature through photography, tossing a frisbee with friends, and occasionally immersing myself in the world of video games. My connection with nature and the enjoyment I find in life's simple pleasures shape my therapeutic philosophy.

For over a decade, I've had the privilege of working with children in various capacities, which includes serving as a director of a summer camp, leading experiential education programs for youth and Child Welfare. These experiences have provided me with invaluable insights into the challenges young individuals and families face.

In therapy, I embrace a flexible approach that's tailored to your child's unique needs and preferences. I draw from a diverse set of therapeutic modalities, including Emotional Focused Therapy, Family Systems Theory, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

Janel Silva-Grande MSW RSW

Hi there, I am so grateful you have landed here – I’m Janel. I have been dedicated to the field of child and youth mental health for the past 10 years working as a child developmental clinical researcher/manager, peer counsellor, at-risk youth girls group mentor/facilitator, psychological assessment scorer and the last few years as a child, youth and family therapist. I am extremely passionate about mental health advocacy, wellness, and raising mental health awareness through knowledge mobilization.

I have an honours undergraduate degree in Psychology with a specialization in clinical work from the University of Waterloo. I graduated with my Master of Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University, with course work and internships particularly focusing on children, youth and families. I am a mama, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a life long learner, and a friend. In my spare time you can find me dancing, spending time with my little guy, family, friends and animals, or outdoors exploring/adventuring in nature.

Through my work, I strive to create a safe, non-judgemental space where the children, youth, families, and young adults I work with feel supported, seen, and heard. I am very intentional in utilizing an integrative, holistic, client-centered and experiential/lighthearted approach, so as to tailor my work to fit with the unique people who I am privileged to walk alongside – through their challenges and celebrations. My hope is to support others through their challenges by focusing on the strengths and resources they already have within them to unlock moving toward a place of wellness, hope, resilience and change. Empathetic support, encouragement, collaboration and a strengths-based focus is my goal for every interaction I have, with a particular focus on creating a strong/secure therapeutic relationship of reciprocity, and equality.

The Fun Stuff

Jenn

If you know me, you know that one thing I LOVE is camping. I am often by the campfire or the water, just being, in nature.

This year I’m trying something completely new to me, and I’m LEARNING to curl.
